the awakening

wvvrd:
Hi! I just followed you and I totally love your blog! I'm a huge book worm and I like all your post about it. anyway I've read in some of your post that you have like a list of favorite books and I'm sort of not reading anything right now, so I decided (If it's okay with you). Can you share to us your top 10 fave/must read books or top 5 (if 10 is too much). thank you and I would highly appreciate it (although I'm not pressuring you) but still thank you. :)

Hmmm I don’t think I ever said I have a list, but let’s see! In no particular order:

  1. East of Eden by John Steinbeck
  2. Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
  3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
  4. Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli (whose website is the bomb dot com and does not appear to have been redone since 1995, ahahaha)
  5. The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton (my writing hero)
  6. Harry Potter by Duh
  7. The Awakening by Kate Chopin
  8. The Fault in Our Stars & Looking for Alaska by John Green (I love him more just as an author than his individual books, if that makes sense?)
  9. Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (and currently reading his Virgin Suicides and loving it)
  10. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

Kate Chopin, The Awakening

One of my favorite books. Highly recommend if you love psychological realism, and it’s not very long at all. I wrote a really long essay on this book for a class two years ago.
