I’m having one of those days where it’s difficult to even put one sentence together. Like even just writing an email is hard.
Isn’t it funny how that happens sometimes?
I have a big empty wall in my room and I kinda just wanna do built in bookshelves and a ladder so that I can do this^ every day.

Poetry, Prose (including fiction), or All?: Prose only, mostly fiction but some nonfiction
Describe your writing in 9 sentences: I try to write stories that are about real people and the real things that happen to them—without forgetting that sometimes real events are weird. My favorite genre to read is psychological realism, and I try to get in my characters’ heads, too. I also love putting classical influences (and Freudian theory) into my stories; the last “big” story (Oh Father Where Art Thou?) I wrote played on the Oedipus Complex, for example. I’d say my prose style is pretty straightforward. I place more onus on the telling of the actual story than impressing the reader with “clever writing”.

The Vagina Zine Spring 2013 Issue (Featuring A Story by Me!)
Vagina :: The Zines 8th issue features 51 pages of the very best prose, poetry, art work, reviews, and opinion pieces from our lady contributors!
Hiya guys! I have a story in the latest issue of THE VAGINA ZINE! (I love that name and have even more loved having to tell it to all of my family members who have asked where my latest story is being published. I always say it very enthusiastically: “THEVAGINAZINE!”)
I hope you’ll support your fellow lit mag & check it out!
Do you ever feel a story coming on,
but you don’t quite know what it is yet? It’s this sort of tingling feeling at the edge of your mind and the tips of your fingers, like all of your creativity is getting wound up and ready to go. I guess it’s a sort of weird separation between feeling inspired and actually having the idea, but you know that once it comes you’ll be off like a shot, just a frenzy of keyboard clicks and perfect sentences, and it’s going to be something really wonderful.
That’s how I feel right now. Can’t wait for the idea to arrive.
Happy Birthday, Hank!
After just one hour, nerdfighters have loaned more than $5,000 to entrepreneurs in the developing world. Keep it up! (And Happy Birthday, Hank!)
OH MY GOSH I FORGOT THAT HANK AND I HAVE THE SAME CINCO DE BIRTHDAY

Write a story in which your main character is celebrating his/her 24th birthday.

I’m at Barnes & Noble for the first time since I got my Kindle (it broke last week) and I forgot that this place is basically heaven.
You know what, as a writer, is rough?
When something going on in your life is providing great inspiration for a piece, but if you wrote about it and the story went out into the world and was read by certain people (particularly those providing that inspiration), they’d undoubtedly read too much into it and your world (and theirs) would basically implode.
Obviously I have to be super vague, but has anyone else ever had this dilemma?
Woooo getting another story published!!
Thank you VaginaZine!
My story “Shaken” will be in their forthcoming Spring 2013 Issue.
One of these people is having THE BEST WEEK EVER! (And it’s me!)
