Write about the day that is your birthday. You don’t have to write about a good birthday you had, just something associated with that date. For example, my birthday is May 5, and I think the neatness of “05/05” and the fact that it’s in the verrry beginning of spring are pretty telling of my character—maybe I’d write about that in the third person. It’s also Cinco de Mayo, so I might write, say, about something strange happening at a Cinco de Mayo party. I definitely feel like certain dates can speak symbolic volumes in literature. Harry Potter’s birthday is the same as JK Rowling’s, Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury takes place on dates all around Easter, and so on (I’d love for people to send in more examples of date-usage, I’m hungover and can’t think of any more right now haha). So play around with how knowing your action is taking place on a specific day—one that has significance to you—changes how you write.
