Just to elaborate: I definitely don't think the love story (triangle or otherwise) needs to be the main focus of the entire plot, but to me the most important sequence in storytelling is that character -> action -> consequences - so if K's "actions" regarding G and P weren't going to yield any interesting consequences (aside from maybe like a note in the epilogue), why bother? I really enjoy Katniss and the HG trilogy, just for the record, but I wish the love triangle had been dropped or redone.
But obvvvv the consequence was that Katniss & Peeta got jiggy wit it in the epilogue! Just kidding, haha, but remember we had a discussion about that on here?
