I understand what glennas365 is saying, but it's very possible to write a love triangle that has actual dramatic conflict WHILE making it clear that the heroine is not defined by her relationships with men. And Collins did not manage that imo. P/K/G felt dull and contrived, hastily glued onto the story fabric at the last minute to satisfy some sort of marketing need. And that might not be far off from the truth - iirc Collins's editor made her add the love triangle.
