Hey there! I love to write but I've often found that my sentences come off choppy and are confusing to read? How do I make my writing flow?

I would suggest trying some “stream of consciousness” writing. My writing is usually choppiest when I’m trying to micro-manage the sentences, and “flow” the best when I just start typing. It’s sort of like how you’d sound aloud when you’re trying to say something concisely, versus just opening your mouth and talking to your friend.

Start out with a website like 750 Words or Oh Life! which can give you daily reminders to write. At first maybe you’ll just want to write as if it’s a diary, or talk about your day. Then what really helps me is to write something like, “I want to write a story about a cat, and the cat makes friends with a possum, but I’m having a hard time characterizing their relationship because of x y z. And I want the mood to be like this but I can’t seem to get it there, because of a b c.” That always really helped me when I had a writing assignment coming up.

Your ability to write is like a muscle, so doing exercises like these will strengthen your ability to write more fluidly. Hope this helps!
