I’ve just been noticing all the criticising of Twilight going on, and one thing I’m a little bemused by is that most of the criticism (from what I’ve seen) is about how it’s setting such a terrible example for young girls, etc. I’m on the fence with Twilight – I’ve read it, but neither love nor hate it – and I’m just wondering, why should it set a good example? Why does the protagonist have to be any kind of role model at all? (cont.)

Are you kidding me? That’s like, the definition of a protagonist. Someone who you’re supposed to admire and root for.
