YEAH WRITE!

Here’s a link to yet another awesome and informative post from the blog/website that I helped launch/interned for last summer, Publishing Trendsetter.

Two reasons why this is a must-read for yeah writers:

1. I think that it’s very, very important for writers to understand the publishing process. For one thing, I think it’ll make your chances of getting published better if you understand how the system works. And once you get published, or at least an agent, it will help you make better decisions.
2. A lot of you right now are probably young and think that you want to become writers. So you’ll go to college and become and English Major, maybe. And then you’ll have the epiphany, like I did, that basically only JK Rowling can totally support herself off her books’ royalties. So you’re going to need an alternative career direction, and you still love books, so you’ll be pointed toward publishing and realize that it’s a cool industry, and you can still write while you have a career. So you’ll have a leg up.
3. The industry is changing a LOT. By the time many of you go into publishing, or have something published, a lot of the changes that are being set in motion right now (as stated in this article) will have taken affect. Best to be prepared!
